If winter bugs have got you feeling blergh or you just want something to really warm you up then our special "Hot Toddy" recipe could be just the ticket!
What actually is a Hot Toddy?
There is some contention about whether it originated in England or Scotland but either way the residents of those cold-arse countries know that it's a great way to see off the winter blues!
There are many variations but most recipes consist of lemon, honey and whisky in hot water.
Our "hot" ;) take includes brewing a cup of our Defender loose leaf tea to replace the hot water so you can enjoy the benefits of linseed, spearmint leaf, ginger pieces, cinnamon pieces, elderflower, orange peel on a green tea base.
What you need -
(Amounts are approximate, adjust to suit your tastes)
-
1 shot of whiskey (but you could also use rum, brandy or any other brown spirit)
-
2 x teaspoons of lemon juice (fresh is best)
-
1 x tablespoon of honey - we get ours from our favourite local beekeepers Honey and Glow :)
-
A teaspoon of our Defender blend
-
A roaring open fire (ok you don't need this but we can all dream right?!)
Directions -
-
Combine whiskey, honey and lemon juice in a mug or glass.
-
Steep your Defender blend for 5-7 minutes (tip - use a heatproof jug for easy pouring).
-
Pour over your other ingredients, still well until the honey has disappeared into the liquid.
-
Get comfy and cozy and enjoy as it warms you from the inside out.
The comforting heat of the whiskey combined with the hot tea, lemon and honey makes this drink the bomb when you're under the weather or especially hating the cold.
Stay toasty!
